OFA & Certifications

The Orthopedic Foundation for Animals provides certification and screening services for breeding dogs to help reduce the incidence of genetic diseases. By utilizing OFA and other health screening services, breeders can make more informed breeding decisions to help reduce the prevalence of genetic diseases and improve the overall health of their breeding stock. Our doctors and staff can help you navigate this process, choose which tests are relevant to your pets, and submit the diagnostics for review.

What We Offer

  • Hip & Elbow Dysplasia Screening - Our doctors will facilitate obtaining the necessary x-rays and submission to the multi-doctor panel of board certified radiologists at OFA.

  • Patellar Luxation - In patellar luxation, the kneecap luxates, or pops out of place. Our doctors can evaluate your breeding stock and submit the registration to the Patellar Luxation Database.

  • Basic Cardiac Evaluation - A clinical cardiac examination will be conducted to detect any abnormalities. After a clear exam our office will submit your pet's information to OFA to be retained in their Basic Cardiac Database.

  • Genetic Testing - Our office has relationships with many laboratories that offer a wide spectrum of genetic testing. Our doctors can recommend what tests are relevant to your pet based on breed, color, health status, etc.
